Village Wellness Chronicles: Welcoming New Additions to the VW Team

Hi everyone! After the medical camp in June, we've made some major changes to our Village Wellness team, as well as progress on our goal of collecting more eye glasses. Big impacts happen with consistency, commitment, patience and time. We are excited to announce a new name for our blog! We are doing work that truly transforms lives, and our new blog name, From Shadows to Strength, reflects that.

I am pleased to announce that we have welcomed Gurjala Srinivasa Rao (Headmaster of Zilla Parishad High School) as our Village Wellness Volunteer Coordinator! This crucial role will help bridge the gap between Vedullapalli, surrounding villages, and the US. With Mr. Gurjala leading the charge, we can expect a significant positive shift. His commitment will inspire many to become involved and contribute to our collective goal.

We are also thrilled to announce Dr. Subhashini as our new optometrist, who will be seeing patients from 5pm-7pm on Thursdays. We thank Dr. Mary for all her invaluable years of service. Dr. Subhashini worked under Dr. Amruthapani, who we've now begun referring cataract patients to, and we're pleased to say that they were operated on for free.

We also want to extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Reeder and Dr. Tu, optometrists from San Diego, for their kind donation of used eyeglasses. Their contributions resulted in collecting approximately 30 to 35 pairs of glasses.

These eyeglasses will undoubtedly make a meaningful difference for individuals in our village who struggle to access proper vision care. It is encouraging to see how collaboration across borders leads to such positive outcomes. Thank you, Dr. Reeder, Dr. Tu, for your generosity and commitment to making a difference!
