Happy New Year everyone!
The holiday season has brought amazing success to our fundraising efforts, and we'd like to thank all our donors leading up to this point. This is only the beginning, and much work has yet to be done. In our first blog post, we want to start the new year by chronicling the work we have done up until now, as well as the current state of the cause.
We want to thank Mr. Goparaju Subba Rao ( Managing Trustee of GRR&R Trust), who has been sending us updates on the developments in Vedullapalli for the past month— he is in touch with the clinic staff. He has been working on finding available gynecologists and an additional general physician to help Dr. Anjaneyacharylu. We also thank Ms. Mary for her ongoing and tireless commitment to serving the clinic.
Mr. Goparaju Subba Rao has informed us of the clinic equipment that works well— the slit lamp and keratometer— as well as the equipment that is in disrepair. In lieu of that, we are looking to expand our focus to funding for oncoming doctors, free medicines, and needed equipment. This will continue to evolve according to the needs and expansion of the clinic.
List of needed outpatient equipment:
Stethoscope ~ 9,500 rupees
Glucometer ~ 1,500 rupees
BP machine ~ 1,450 rupees
Pulse Oximeter ~ 430 rupees
Autorefractor~ 2,96,800 rupees
I-chart ~ 32,000 rupees
We plan to fund these instruments by continuing to pitch to several donors and creating separate campaigns on this website to donate to them. Here is the pitch deck for reference, which details our long-term and short-term goals.
Additionally, we have pushed past our comfort zone this year, pitching to people both in person and online to spread the word. Notably, we pitched to people at temples in the Bay Area by distributing flyers and giving them a short synopsis of Village Wellness' goals. While pitching online requires unique skills, walking up to strangers and discussing a cause we believe in demands another. Not only did our confidence grow by the end of the day, but we drove home feeling fulfilled and pleasantly surprised at the goodness of strangers.
We pitched to six people this year and, through their kindness, reached heights that we could not have imagined when we started Village Wellness. We are currently in the process of registering the trust bank account in India with the government, following which the donated funds can be transferred for the clinic's various needs.
Thank you all, and we look to you for your continued support! Updates will continue to be posted here.
